Scope and Contents

Landscape painter Virgil Macey Williams (1830-1886) is rumored to have travelled to Yosemite with Watkins and painter Thomas Hill in 1865. These albumen photographs of Williams drawings have been attributed to Watkins.

Includes 12 loose pages of plates with Watkins photographs of Williams drawings. Cover dimensions: 57 cm x 40 cm. Inside front cover has handwritten inscription: "To Mr. Josiah Hasbrooke with regards of the artist. Virgil Williams." Album (particularly the spine and binding) are in fragile condition and should be handled with care.
