Writings and personalia, 1852-1998
Scope and Contents
Writings and personalia include a variety of personal materials belonging to members of the Burr, Allyne, and Overstreet families, including personal writings, journals, travel diaries, scrapbooks, sketches, sketchbooks, personal expense lists, yearbooks, and diplomas. Much of the material consists of writings and personalia related to Alice and Marian Burr’s travels in Africa and Asia from 1929-1930, including Alice Burr’s The Incomplete Guide to Africa (1930), chronicling the sisters' experiences and observations in Africa, and notes compiled by Burr family members based on Alice Burr’s notes and travel journals. This series also includes a dissertation on Harry and Bonaro Overstreet’s contributions to the field of education.
