Content Description
Collection of black and white photographs taken by George Rea throughout California in the 1920s. Some photographs are affixed to photograph album pages, others are loose. Rea worked for Southern California Edison Company on hydroelectric projects in Tulare, Kern and Los Angeles counties. Photographs depict the construction of the Kern River Powerhouse #3 in Kernville, California and the Los Angeles Powerhouse #1 in San Francisquito Canyon, California; construction of electric transmission lines in Southern California; and the camps where Southern California Edison crews lived while working on construction projects. Other photographs depict locations Rea traveled to including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Death Valley and locations outside of California such as North Dakota and Canada.
